Types of UPVC Door Handles

It is crucial to select the appropriate replacement handle made of upvc for your home if upvc handles need replacing. A locksmith can offer and install high-security uPVC door handles with extra security features.

The most important measurements are measurement A (known as PZ) and the length of the backplate (measurement F). Make sure to check these measurements to ensure your new uPVC handle will fit.

Lever/Lever

A lever is a rigid rod that pivots around a point. When you apply a force to the end of the lever it tends to rotate the fulcrum to the direction of the force. This motion increases the applied force, allowing you to lift or move something that would require more force if you attempted to apply it directly to the load.

The distance between the fulcrum and the point where you apply the force determines the distance the lever can be moved. This is referred to as the mechanical advantage. The mechanical advantage increases when the lever is extended. You can determine the mechanical advantage by dividing the distance from the fulcrum to the point where you're applying the force by the distance between the fulcrum and the end of the lever.

Levers can have different effects based on the method by which the force is applied. A class 2 lever for instance has a tendency of rotating in the opposite direction once the effort force is applied. If you press on the door's handle the force will create rotational effects similar to this.

However, levers don't create energy. Levers increase the force by converting small amounts of effort applied over a lengthy distance into larger amounts of force applied over smaller distances. Levers are used to lift heavy objects and transport large amounts of cargo. This is also the reason behind levers found in many everyday tools like crowbars and fishing rods, hammer claws and even your legs when you sit on the hand brakes of your car.

Lever pad handles are a form of upvc door handle that have levers on both sides that operate the multipoint lock. They come in a variety of designs & finishes and can be used with a variety of materials including UPVC, Aluminium & Timber doors. These locks can be used to replace an existing doors made of upvc. They are usually operated by lifting up the levers, which throw out all of the multipoint locks and turning the key to close / unlock. They offer some extra security in comparison to lever handles for doors because the locking function is only accessible from the inside with a key unless the door is locked.

They're not as secure as a cylinder lock, but they are a cost-effective way to increase the security of your home. The only downside is that they don't provide the same level of security as a cylinder lock, and they don't restrict access to your home if the door is left open.

The majority of lever pad upvc door handles we have in stock are manufactured by the industry's leading manufacturers and therefore are made from high quality components. They also come with a manufacturer's guarantee.

Lever/Snib

Lever latches, the simplest of door handles are used. By pressing down on the lever, it triggers a simple latch mechanism inside to keep the door closed. It can also be locked with keys. Some lever privacy handles operate in the same way, but with a second snib, which is similar to a doorknob.

A snib button can be extremely useful, particularly for homes where it's important to maintain privacy or security. If your partner is arriving home late from work, you can use the snib to ensure they aren't allowed in until they're ready in. This type handle is also used in interior doors such as bedrooms, where you might require a lock to prevent access from outside.

Snib buttons can cause issues in certain situations, particularly when you have old locks and doors that are warped. If the snib button was accidentally pressed or by a person who isn't familiar with it, the door may slam and lock you out. In most cases, you can get in by knocking on the door frame or letterbox, however this isn't a good idea.

If your uPVC has an snib, we suggest replacing it with a smart lock from the E-LOK 7 Series. They can be retrofitted to pull handle kits that double turn and are available with cover plates that hide existing holes, for a seamless install. The E-LOK makes use of a smart application to enable you to unlock the door using RFID cards or mechanical keys and can be configured with passcodes for secure entry and convenience. This is achieved by using the 'pad-shaped' handle that locks into the gap between the handle and the lock case.

This handle is designed to be used with uPVC multipoint locks that use a split spindle mechanism. This type of operation requires that the internal lever handle and external pad handle both be fitted to the same lock case.
